Teenage Confidence and Modelling Workshops

Approximately 8 months ago I attended the Portfolio Teenage Deportment course. I had heard very good things about this course and I was both excited and nervous to go. As soon as I walked into the agency I felt very welcomed and safe. Within a few hours I had made a few friends and I was becoming more comfortable. I learned so many new things about looking after your body and skin, how to be more confident and how to walk down the catwalk. Once the two-day course was complete I was noticeably more confident within myself and I had left with lots of new tools and advice to help me in the future. Anyone can do this course, even if you think you are not quite model material (which we all are) because you sure leave the course feeling like one! I would seriously recommend this Deportment course to anyone looking to learn new beauty tips, modelling info, and all round confidence and life skills. I was even lucky enough to be hired after taking on all the advice from Rebecca, Mel and the rest of the girls that were at the course. This was so much fun and I hope you all give it a try.

In the middle of 2017 I did the teen workshop at portfolio to try and get a better understanding of what the modeling business was all about. Modeling is a huge part of my life and I have big dreams for my future and I thought doing a course would be the best place to start my dream. The course that was run by Rebecca Dore who is an amazing, beautiful, kind woman, who I admire, gave us girls lots of advice and told us what to expect in the industry. I learnt how to look after my hair, nails, skin and health properly. Ever since, I have been doing a lot of exercise and eating the healthiest I can. This course also gave me a lot more confidence in myself and to feel comfortable in my own skin. Growing up I was a very shy girl who didn’t like to talk much. Over the years my confidence grew and this course allowed me to break out of my shell. I was also lucky enough to be given the opportunity to do a makeup photo shoot with KSSM a couple months after; the doors have been opened for me to now pursue my modeling career.

Thanks to all that provided such a great course that has given my daughter not only great confidence but amazing knowledge. She is so excited to use these skills in any opportunity that might come up in the future ahead. I highly recommend this course. Thanks again.

The concept of confidence coming from within was only a theory I had heard, before I had attended the Adult Workshop. I learnt that you can wear whatever you want, present yourself however you want and conduct yourself however you want if you find that well of confidence that comes from within. Confidence is essential in all aspects of life, from work life to casual social life. It allows you to be who you want to be and do what you want to do without any thought of "oh, I might fail if I do this" or "I might get laughed at if I fully commit to this". I found a new sense of confidence from doing the runway training, the professional photo shoot with Dave Richards, the nutrition talks and also from the wise words of Mel Radford Brown. Her experience and knowledge of the industry is priceless and well worth listening too.

Hey Mel Since I've completed your course, at the end of last year, I just wanted to thank you so much and show you a photo from my sisters wedding at the end of Nov last year. After your course things got a lot better for me my hormones were finally settled and thanks to you my confidence just kept growing. It's amazing what a little bit of help, from someone you can respect easily, can actually make such a huge difference to how you present yourself. Your courses are amazing and I believe they truly help the insecure teens (like myself....well my old self). So congrats on having such an inspiring company I hope you keep doing it because it helped change me and many others I would say. It made me think of how people see me out in public and a lot changed such as my style, my cleanliness (nails etc) and the way I am now seen. I read your notes all the time. Keep up the amazing company because there are a lot of teens that could get a real boost out of your work. Thank you so much

What aspect did you enjoy most about the Portfolio Teenage Workshop? The thing i most enjoyed about the workshop was probably the photo shoot, i learnt a lot of tips and it helped me with feeling more confident in front the camera. Also learning to do our own make up was fun! What was the most valuable information that you learnt and that you use often in everyday life? That confidence is key!
